A job applicant made a big mistake that landed in the inbox of Delhi-based CEO Ananya Narang, who didn’t hesitate to share the blunder online.
Social media users blamed ChatGPT for this error. Narang, the founder and CEO of Entourage—a content-as-a-service platform—posted a screenshot of the applicant’s cover letter on X, pointing out the mistake that left her both amused and frustrated.
In a rush, the candidate submitted a cover letter filled with template placeholders instead of personalized details.
The letter, intended for a content-related position at Narang’s company, stated: “I’m proficient in [mention your key skills], and I’m passionate about [explain briefly how you can add value]…” You can see the issue; they forgot to replace the placeholder text with their actual skills and experiences.
Narang couldn’t help but highlight the mistake, saying, “Just received yet another job application. It makes sense why unemployment is so high right now.
It makes sense why unemployment is so high right now.
Narang asked users in a different post how they should react to the gaffe produced by AI. Many users believed the applicant had created the cover letter using ChatGPT but neglected to review it before sending it. This is hilarious considering the applicant was seeking for a content-related job at Entourage, a business that specializes in content services.
Narang even suggested her own response: “We appreciate your interest in [company name]’s [job title] opportunity. It seems from looking over your application that the message you submitted was unaltered and produced by an AI program like ChatGPT.
The message caused social media users to go crazy. “Thank you [insert name] for your interest,” a user joked. I’ll definitely get back to you,” one person said, while another said, “Dear candidate [insert name], Because you don’t have [list the necessary abilities for the position], your application for the [name the role here] has been denied. Before applying for the [job mentioned], please review your upcoming applications.
It looks like job seekers should consider using ChatGPT a bit less and focus on proofreading a bit more.
