Intel has disclosed in an official filing that it plans to reduce its workforce by laying off 1,300 employees across four offices in Oregon.
According to the document dated October 15, the company informed the affected employees weeks in advance, with the first round of layoffs set to occur over two weeks starting November 15.
“The impacted employees will not have the right to bump or displace others, and there is no union representing those affected,” the company stated in its filing, adding that a list of the positions affected will be provided to the authorities.
These layoffs are being reported in accordance with the Federal Worker Adjustment Retraining and Notification Act (WARN) in the United States.
The Intel locations impacted in Oregon are: 3585 SW 198th Ave., Aloha, OR 97078; 2501 NE Century Blvd, Hillsboro, OR 97124; 5200 NE Elam Young Pkwy., Hillsboro, OR 97124; and 2111 NE 25th Ave., Hillsboro, OR 97124.
On August 1, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger described the company’s Q2 performance as “disappointing.” The press release also confirmed that the company would be reducing expenses, cutting costs, and lowering headcount.
“Intel expects to reduce headcount by more than 15%, with the majority of cuts expected to be completed by the end of 2024,” the company stated in August.
