Gaurav Munjal, CEO of ed-tech platform Unacademy, took to social media to announce that he successfully secured coveted tickets for British band Coldplay’s upcoming concert in India.
When Coldplay revealed their concert in India on Sunday, fans were quick to express their excitement. Social media was flooded with posts as fans shared their enthusiasm and discussed strategies for obtaining tickets.
The buzz surrounding the Mumbai concert ignited numerous conversations, with many reminiscing about the band’s iconic songs and unforgettable performances.
Despite many attempts to purchase tickets on BookMyShow, numerous fans faced challenges due to the overwhelming demand, which even caused the e-ticketing platform to crash temporarily.
Munjal was among the fortunate ones who managed to snag tickets and shared his joy on X (formerly Twitter). The entrepreneur wrote, “Didn’t clear JEE. But got the Coldplay tickets today. Feels good.”
He likened the challenge of securing the tickets to the difficulty of passing the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination), known for being one of India’s toughest entrance exams.
The Coldplay concert is set to take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, with performances scheduled for Saturday, January 18, and Sunday, January 19, 2025. Due to the overwhelming demand, the band also announced a third show at the same venue for January 2.
Tickets were made available through BookMyShow, priced between ₹2,500 and ₹12,500, with various options at ₹3,000, ₹3,500, ₹4,000, ₹4,500, ₹9,000, and ₹9,500.
Coldplay last performed in India in 2016 during their ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ tour in Mumbai, drawing a massive crowd of fans.
In response to the post, an X user named Akshay Shah, with a touch of sarcasm, commented, “What mantra did you use to hack BMS, bro? How did you get the tickets? If you back this and fund us, my pre-seed round will be sorted!”
Another user, coldsire, added, “Priorities on point! Coldplay won’t solve calculus for you, but they’ll definitely lift your spirits. Rock on, Gaurav!”
The Unacademy CEO’s post has attracted over a lakh views and numerous comments.
