Meeting with Hon. Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi for a thorough and extensive conversation on artificial intelligence (AI), its effects on India, and many priorities for the future was an honor. In an X post, Vishal Sikka said, “His remarkable understanding of the impact of technology on all of us and how its use with democratic values can uplift everyone both inspired and humbled me as I left the meeting.”
It was a really enlightening conversation. PM Modi said, “India is dedicated to leading the way in AI, with an emphasis on innovation and generating opportunities for the youth.”
Vishal Sikka: Who is he?
Sikka graduated from Gujarat University in India with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering. Stanford University awarded him a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence.
Sikka joined Infosys as the CEO and Managing Director in 2014 after working for a number of other organizations. He was the first non-founder to lead the firm.
Throughout his time there, Sikka turned the business into an innovation-driven, technology-driven enterprise that prioritized next-generation services like analytics, cloud computing, and automation.
Additionally, he started the “Zero Distance” campaign to make the company’s services more accessible to its clients. The program pushed staff members to recognize and address issues at all levels.
NIA (Next-Generation Integrated Artificial Intelligence), the company’s AI platform, was developed under Sikka’s leadership. By offering sophisticated data and automating tedious operations, the platform helped clients cut expenses.
An AI-powered knowledge portal called Infosys Mana was also founded by the former CEO to assist companies in cutting expenses and promoting innovation.
Due to conflicts over corporate governance with the company’s founders, especially Narayana Murthy, Sikka left Infosys in 2017.
