One of the most memorable pitches on Shark Tank India season 1 was Navel Fukai, presented by Shrawani Engineers founders Baldev Jumnani and Jayshree Jumnani. The product that purported to give ladies Gol Nabhi became the subject of many jokes, both on the show and among the crowd. Nobody took it seriously. A few years later, the founder reported a 100X growth rate. The belly button shaper is now sold in five nations, including the United States, where it can be purchased at Walmart.
In Shark Tank India, Baldev Jumnani and Jayshree Jumnani requested Rs 10 lakh for 20% stock at a valuation of Rs 50 lakh. The device cost Rs 650 at the time, and it had already sold Rs 4.5 lakhs before making a pitch on the show. This means they’ve sold more than 700 items. The Sharks didn’t take the business seriously, calling it one of the funniest pitches on the show ever.
Years later, they have recorded a 100% increase in business and are selling their goods through distribution networks in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Jabalpur, and Bhopal. Not only that, but the product is now accessible in South Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the United States, including Walmart in New Jersey. They raised Rs 35 lakh in funding from a US-based investor, according to the YouTube series Backstage With Millionaires.
Baldev and Jayshree said that they were instructed to read the script created by the Shark Tank India crew for the episode. The writing, however, transformed a pharmaceutical product into a fantasy product. Baldev also stated that he did not want the public to perceive his product as a fantasy product but was forced to do so for TRPs. He even inquired if they didn’t like his product and why it was chosen over 75,000 other products to appear on the show. He assumed it was merely for entertainment purposes. He chastised the filmmakers for mocking him in a LinkedIn post last year.
