President Joe Biden stated on Monday that Vice President Kamala Harris has been a champion of civil rights and will continue to be an inspirational leader. Biden made the comments at the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library in Austin, Texas.
“I expressed my feelings about Kamala, and she has been a fantastic collaborator and a civil rights advocate throughout her career. She will persist in being a motivating leader and promoting this fundamental American principle—that we are all equal and deserving of equal treatment throughout our lives,” Biden stated.
“We haven’t consistently met that standard, but we haven’t abandoned it either,” he continued.
On July 21, Biden announced his withdrawal from the American presidential race and endorsed Harris, 59, as the Democratic Party’s nominee for the general election on November 5.
She is the expected presidential nominee for the Democratic Party.
He said, “My fellow Americans, in two years we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. That July 4th, 2026, will be a moment to reflect not just on our past but also on our future.”
When Biden selected Harris to run for president in 2020, he created history by selecting the first African-American woman and Indian-American.
